The weekend went by incredibly quickly, and tons of stuff happened. As you know, dear Reader Friends, I was at a conference for the first part of the weekend and got to hear a TON of awesome speakers. I also bought a book. It should be no surprise that it is Kid President's Guide to Being Awesome. It has a ton of really awesome and TRUE tips.
I thought I'd share a few really good ones here, and I'm not doing this because after 460 days of writing, I occasionally get writer's block. No! It is just that frequently, other people's words are better than any I could craft. So here are a few awesome tips.
I love when my Kinders have their birthdays on a school day. The wear a sticker or crown declaring that it is their birthday, and they smile all day long. They tell anyone who will listen, "It's my birffday!" It is adorable, and you can't help be filled with their contagious joy. What if we could make everyone around us feel like that?
Actually, for this tip, Kid President recommends mailing your friend a corndog, but that might not be a good idea if your friend lives overseas, or is a vegetarian. I like the idea though, a surprise gift that is small but thoughtful - something that shows you have been paying attention can really make someone feel like they matter.
I just made bacon with dinner. Some of the people in our family really wanted Mac and Cheese, and it is much yummier with bacon, so I made some. I realize this isn't the healthiest thing in the world, but every now and then -- you just have to add bacon. BONUS PRO TIP: Add some Cholulu sauce to your mac and cheese for a little kick of glorious awesome.
