I'm sitting across the table from an extremely crank unicorn. Admittedly she's had too much candy and spent the afternoon/evening trick-or-treating with friends. She's irritated because we have been putting a strangle hold on her beloved laptop. We are the "meanest parents, like, EVER!" It's true. Our kids don't have phones but we do have one chrome book, one ipad and one 3ds which, believe me, is PLENTY. Nothing stays in their rooms, though. We take the devices away every night. I taught high school and those kids NEVER SLEPT. They talked to their friends all night and watched videos. We are hoping to hold off on the phone until 8th grade. We hope.
NOT A SINGLE KID HAS COME TO OUR DOOR FOR CANDY TONIGHT!
This is not entirely true. Two kids stopped by and received giant handfuls of candy. We still have a nearly completely full bucket! The Husband gave up candy almost a year ago, and I can only mange a couple of pieces now and again. The Offspring on the other hand would LOVE to eat the WHOLE bowl! Having candy around could be an issue.
Kids don't trick or treat like they used too. It seems like everyone just goes to carnivals, or trunk or treat events -- or they go from store to store downtown. On the other hand, if we hadn't bought candy, our house would've been hit a MILLION times over! Or maybe it is just that apartment complex looks creepy? I guess that could be a deterrent.
Tomorrow every teacher is really gonna be struggling, so you might want to bring a coffee with your kids. Sugared up kids who've been up too late on a school night aren't the easiest crew to teach. Lucky for us it is a Wednesday, and so the kids are only in school for 1/2 the day. The tail end of the week, might get a little bit tough!
This is the first Halloween that we didn't take the kids trick or treating, which feels pretty weird, then again, we were able to watch another episode of Stranger Things right there in the living room! We got to watch tv on the BIG tv!
The Husband was unable to locate his Black Panther mask. He has a Black Panther costume and he wears it around the house from time to time, but here comes the one day of the year where his wearing it is LEGITIMATE and he couldn't find it! He was pretty bummed. He sat on the couch in the rest of his costume, occasionally sighing sadly. I bet you a million dollars, he finds it first thing in the morning!
If you need any candy, just let me know. We've got TONS!
Keep moving forward,
