As we walked into our little home this afternoon, the Boy told the cat, "Here we are, Sammy! We are home from the road." It was kind of adorable, especially because this was a tiny, weekend mini-tour with the Husband's band. We were hardly "on the road" at all. The cat seemed happy for the Boy's return which is impressive considering all the ways the Boy attempts to carry him.
Speaking of life on the road, we had a really great time. As mentioned REPEATEDLY, I think the Husband is the Bee's Knees, and travelling with him, and his band is fun. All the band members and their wives and families are cool. We get along fine, and so we spent free time at the beach together as well as compared marshmallow roasting ability around a backyard fire pit.
Our hosts were old friends of mine and the Husband's who sweetly allowed seven people to sleep all over the house. My family slept in the surprisingly large dinning room, while our bass player's family huddle up in a spare bedroom, and our drummer who was family-less this trip got the living-room. It is no small thing to have seven people crawling all over your house - not too mention that three of them are kids, but our hosts were cheerful, generous, and sweet. All kids involved had a blast.
We spent an afternoon at the beach and got see some dolphins swimming which was pretty amazing. The weather was also kind to us, and we especially enjoyed the easy ocean breezes washing over us at night.
Our friends and hosts, Jerry and Diane, hearken back to the earliest days of the Duo that is the Rockstar and I. I was volunteering at camp with Jerry, when the Husband was a interning at the same camp. My Husband's memory of this time is that we had morning staff meetings at 5 a.m. (he is not a morning person), but I know for a FACT that our staff meetings were held at 7:30 a.m., right before breakfast. He also claims I skipped in (I am a morning person), singing "Good Morning!" at the top of my lungs each day. This might be true. My natural tendencies lean toward obnoxious. At any rate, the Husband found me annoying . . . HOWEVER (and this is according to him) I was also wearing shorts, and he thought he might find it in his power to overlook my obnoxious morning cheerfulness due to the fact that he thought I looked rather lovely in shorts. And the rest is history . . .
Of course I returned home to a mountain of homework that I hadn't completed before we left, which I've now taken a break from to keep all of you updated. I am in full distraction mode as you might have noticed a few changes to the old blog. (Don't worry, I will get my homework finished, Mom.) And on a completely silly and unrelated note, I have continued working on my video making skills, and made a video for one of my assignments which I am including here because I am unashamedly proud of the little thing. I made the edits myself - including sound and transitions. And for those of you who actually take the time to watch it (2 minutes and 40 seconds), thank you for humoring me.
Keep moving forward,
P.S. What do you think of the new blog layout? Yes? No? Let me know!
