I bet you used this extra day off - if you had it - to do some really awesome things. Maybe you went to a bbq or went for a hike with friends. I bet you are the kind of person to drive to the City and Make a Day of It.
I didn't do any of those things. I slept late, took the girl shopping for a swimsuit for school, and a case for her laptop, and then hung around the house all day. It was fairly awesome. Our biggst outing involved Dutch Brothers.
Of course, now, as the hours of my Extra Saturday slip away and I rush head long into another busy week, I wish we'd done one exciting thing. Then again, we did swim with friends, and have a bbq with the inlaws and my sister-in-law. It wasn't like we didn't do anything, it's just that everyone else's adventures seem bigger and more glamorous.
Shoping for a swimsuit for class is pretty much zero fun. Especially since it is Septemeber and not really swimsuit shopping season. The poor Girl must have tried on 20 different suits before finally settling on one that "will do". She has tons of suits that she's worn all summer. However a suit you wear in your own pool, versus one you feel comfortable putting on in swim class are two different things. She swims like a fish, so I'm sure she'll have no problem in class tomorrow - once she gets the suit on. Remember that part of gym class? It was kind of the worst, but then you just got over it. I hope she reaches the point where she's over it quickly. Middle school can be kind of brutal.
Now the Husband is playing his guitar and watching hideous wrestling. The kids are enjoying their last few moments of device freedom before the device-free week begins. I've been finishing up homework, and working on lesson plans. This week has some big events in it and both kids are complaining of sore throats. The best news, of course, is that it will not be 112 degrees this week. I am thrilled for that.
I try to find the joy in the ordinary. We might not have had a instagram worthy weekend, but my little house is clean and better organized. I'm trying to tackle one space every week, or one small area each day. And I'm on top of both my school work and my grad school work, so I guess you can call this a really successful weekend. Whatever the case, I'm just gonna ...
Keep moving forward,
