I LEFT SCHOOL EARLY yesterday. I don’t usually do this. I pretty much try to tough EVERYTHING out. However, I knew that today and tomorrow were really important days, and so I crawled into my bed at 1 in the afternoon yesterday, and decided to just rest. The good news is that I felt a TON better this morning, and made it through even my Leadership class this afternoon. We put together an AWESOME news segment and got some serious work done on a possible upcoming mural for our school. The kids worked hard and I am super proud of how much progress they’ve already made.
Tomorrow is a BIG DAY for my reading class! Our Living History Museum debuts. I was really pleased with their practice today, and any person who wandered in my room for a cup of coffee was subjected to a dress rehearsal. I was super appreciative of these innocent victims. We were able to work out some logistical kinks, and now I feel like we have a clearer picture of what we are doing tomorrow. I am really proud of how far they’ve come this week, and cannot wait to see their performance with our official audiences.
Prisilla, who is pretty brilliant, pointed out to me that I could elbow bump, or even fist bump my students as they come through each morning. She’s right of course, and it would lower my germ exposure. However, there is something about a hand-shake. It makes it feel so official and scholarly. Sometimes a few of my students will come in later than others, and they will seek me out, with their hand out-stretched like we are at a business meeting. I really like that. Also, their handshakes have greatly improved since the first week of school. I wonder if I can get them greeting their teammates with a handshake . . . that would look fairly adorable.
On a sick day related note, does anyone know how many times, is too many times to watch Avengers Endgame? Is there a limit to Black Panther viewings?
Keep moving forward,
