NOT HAVING A MONDAY really makes the week fly past! I cannot believe that tomorrow is Thursday! We will be filming our first newscast of the school year, and I am both nervous and anxious about getting it all done. The next item on my agenda is to create the script. Later on the kids will write the scripts but I usually put together the first one.
We did some serious work this afternoon — planning things together as teachers do. I am tasked with being a math support person, so we sat down and wrestled with what that would look like. This is all brand new. We did things completely different in the past. We are blazing new trails which is both exciting and complicated. We have a plan moving forward, but maybe it isn’t the best plan. Maybe we will figure out the best plan down the road, but I am grateful that all the teachers I’m working with are willing to head out on this adventure and see what happens next. The best part is we get to engage in a tiny bit of team teaching which is rare and so much fun. I’ve been in the 4th grade classes so far this week, and I’ll be spending the rest of my days in the 3rd grade classrooms. Synergy is at work!
I got TWO packages from Amazon today! The whole #clearthelists #shrinkthelist movement has been amazing! My list is so small now! I only have 4 things on it! Here’s the crazy thing: a friend sent me a beautiful, brand-new tape dispenser (and some beloved Flair pens), and later the same day, I got a package from a stranger (Go Skimm!) and it was boxes of tape!!! HOW COORDINATED, IS THAT? I don’t know if the school secretaries are as excited as I am, but I KEEP GETTING BOXES! My students are thrilled to see all the new stuff coming in! And I am 100% thankful! My Amazon list consists of all the things I would buy my students, if I had room in my budget, so every gift sent is more than I expected!
Alright, it is time to go work on that script. If you want to check out our newscast Friday — you can find it at www.techlab17.com on the Phillips Magnet News Tab. Videos are posted weekly.
